Yellow palm oil
Crude palm kernel oil (PKO)
Crude palm kernel oil (PKO) is a high-quality oil obtained from the almond of oil palm fruits, extracted mechanically with presses.
-
Origin:
It is a very stable oil, classified as lauric due to its high content of this fatty acid. It has a high saponification index, making it widely used in the chemical industry, primarily for soap production. Because of its good stability, it is an excellent alternative for use in the food industry for baking, confectionery, ice cream, and other foods due to its fatty acid profile.
-
The extraction process:
Crude Palm Kernel Oil (PKO) is extracted from the seeds or kernels of the oil palm fruit, specifically from the Elaeis guineensis species. These seeds account for about 5% of the total weight of the palm fruit. Unlike palm oil, which is extracted from the fruit pulp, PKO is obtained from the seeds.

Palm oil storage:
Crude palm oil should be stored and transported in tanks and cisterns under optimal biosecurity conditions to ensure its safety.
