ISCC is an independent organization composed of stakeholders that allows for the creation of a globally applicable certification system to ensure sustainability in the production of raw materials and final products.

The objective of the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) system is to contribute to the cultivation and use of different types of biomass and its products. ISCC PLUS allows companies to demonstrate the responsible nature of their sustainable development process for materials of biological origin.

ISCC EU is a certification system to demonstrate compliance with the sustainability requirements specified in the Renewable Energy Directive (RED) of the European Commission and the Fuel Quality Directive (FQD).

For this purpose, the following criteria are used: Implementation of social and ecological sustainability criteria Monitoring of deforestation-free supply chains Avoidance of the conversion of lands with high biodiversity into agricultural projects Calculation and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions Establishing traceability in global supply chains. Before undergoing an ISCC certification process, every company or entity must comply with the following principles:

Biomass production will not take place on lands with high biodiversity value, lands with high carbon stocks, or lands that are peatlands.

Principle 2:

Biomass will be produced in an environmentally responsible manner. This includes soil protection, water, air, and the application of good agricultural practices.

Principle 3.

Safe working conditions through training and education, the use of protective equipment, and timely and adequate assistance in case of incidents or accidents.

Principle 4:

Biomass production must not violate human rights, labor rights, or land rights. Responsible working conditions and worker health, safety, and well-being will be promoted and based on responsible community relations.
